Bio
Matt was born 1965 in Sacramento. At the age of ten, and while attending St. Francis Elementary School he was hit by a car and suffered extensive injuries head trauma as a 10 year old. Lost most of his speech and right side. After radical surgery and intensive rehabilitation he began to show an interest and talent in drawing and art and music activities.
Matt attended Sac City Unified School District Special Education at Luther Burbank High School. In the last few years Matthew has taken art and physical education classes at Sac City College. He currently attends Short Center South and has been enrolled for the past six years. Every day when he goes to the Center, he says “Art is my work.”
He has completed art projects in a variety of media, water color, acrylics, ceramic sculpture, and tile mosaics - fifty of which which will be in the show. He has also completed a set of 15 original watercolor illustrations for a Spanish Folktale, “The Farmer, the Thief and the Pumpkin Patch.”
